Week 7 F2F Device

Week 7 F2F topic was "Device" so Vicky was talking to us on google meet about Being Cybersmart and this is the language that has being used in 2011. Cybersmart is the roof of Manaiakalani's house and the roof needs to be well equipped in order to be safe for the users. These statements are the reminders for us teachers and students as to be Cybersmart: Be Internet Smart! Be internet Alert! Be Internet Strong! Be Internet Kind! Be Internet Brave and Be  Internet Awesome. The students need to learn cybersmart language.  Being Cybersmart empowers learners to be confident, connected and life long learners. I have learnt about the importance of students learning to be visible and ubiquitous. Dorothy, Jeremy and Fiona have demonstrated how to use the chrome book and ipad with our learners. The three of us worked collaboratively to create the task Explain Everything  using the ipad. I also created a task  for my class using Tongan and English for Cybersmart using Explain Everything App.  Thank you Manaiakalani team for providing the F2F programme to give me more opportunities to learn how to teach our students digitally. I have learnt a lot and taking it to my classroom and for me personally to use. Mālō 'aupito.

DFI F2F Week 6 Enabling Access

Dorothy was talking about the importance of "Being Connected". Manaiakalani is connecting us to a powerful network where we can build up relationship with each other. This is the opportunity for the teachers and learners and the community to be connected digitally. Today I have worked hard on my Class Site and I have learnt how to use different tools to enhance children's learning. Visibility is an effective way for children's learning and I am looking forward to upload some resources for my class.

DFI F2F Week 4 Dealing with Data

I have learnt about the pedagogy of Share and Manaiakalani chose Blogger as the main online space for our young people to share. Blogger is the most useful platform for our children. I  have created a google form and used All about Me as the title and I have learnt how to use different type of questions for that topic. I was able to create a google sheet and here is the sheet and the graph I have made for  number of blogs that one of the students shared from 2015 to 2021.

DFI F2F Week 3

On this week we have learnt about the pedagogy of CREATE. Creative skills help our students to become  better problem solvers. "Creativity is giving to pupils something to do NOT something to learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results" John Dewey. I have learnt about different tools to be used by my children to help them with their learning like google draw, google slide, and using youtube channel but they can't create their own youtube channel. I want to share with you what I did and it was a google slide animation. Hope you will enjoy reading it.

F2F DFI Week 2

Today I have learnt more about how to use different tools on my calendar and my gmail. I was able to arrange my gmail to the most recent one and the ones I haven't read and also set up my signature so I don't have to sign my name whenever I send an email. When learning about google calendar I could manage to colour codes the events. I also learnt about Google Keep but I need to practice more of how to use it. I have learnt about sending invitation for a google meet through my calendar, recording google meet and  I am still learning of how to use the tools of embedding my video into my blog post however  I am happy to share with you my google meet with Tania.

I enjoyed working face to face DFI because I had support from DFI team; Dorophy, Jeremy and Jacob and also my colleague who has more experience on digital learning. I have learnt how to create google groups and work on google docs. I want to share what I have done today as I have made a poster about our school values and put some helping tips of how to practice them. Looking forward to learn more next few weeks.

DFI Week 1

Today is a new experience for me to learn about Manaiakalani  Programme and although I was struggling to get all the information and tried to practice at the same time but I was excited to try new things. Jeremy helped me when I was in our group so that I could swim 😁. I have learned a lot of things today and I am keen to implement  it in the classroom to enhance my children's learning.

I have learnt about the key concepts of  Learn, Create and Share and this is what I practiced today in each session. I have developed a knowledge and understanding of using google drive and how to create google docs.  I was happy that I managed to create a document and shared with Jeremy and the members of my group. I still need a lot of support in doing this programme.  I need to keep practicing some of the sessions that we have done today.

I am looking forward to learn more things next week.
